Because these residents enjoy a home-like environment, Special Care resembles a private home with individual bedrooms and familiar gathering rooms, such as a living room, dining room and den.
A curio cabinet beside each resident's apartment displays personal objects so residents can easily recognize their home. Walking areas with seating alcoves allow residents to move about freely in a protected environment. They enjoy the outdoors safely in two secure walking gardens.
All the comforts of home with a protective environment and the added benefit of a professional nursing staff on duty 24 hours a day gives family members peace of mind that their loved one will be cared for every hour every day.
Individual Programs and Family Support
Residents have individual programs specially tailored to meet their specific needs. Residents in Wesley Glen's Special Care program benefit from socialization and a close-knit community. Appropriate activities and community programs help them feel productive and less dependent. The Wesley Glen community also reaches out to the families to provide ongoing support, understanding and education about dementia. Support Groups are offered monthly.
Continuity of Care
Residents benefit from the affiliations of Wesley Glen's Medical Director and physicians with a local hospital. Other services available are social services, various therapy services and home health care services. Frequent communication and cooperative discharge planning make transitions between hospital and home easier.
